About the Role

Mattel is seeking a versatile 2D Concept & Marketing Artist who brings a creative flair to both in-game visual concepts and marketing/UA asset production. This hybrid role focuses on crafting compelling 2D characters, props, environments, and key-art visuals, as well as producing polished ad assets for user acquisition campaigns and store presence. The position involves collaborating with product, UA, and creative teams within a company that values innovation, inclusivity, and high-quality creative work, all while contributing to a globally recognized toy and entertainment brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and iterate 2D art assets including characters, props, environments, and UI concepts aligned with creative briefs.
  • Produce thumbnails, mood boards, and polished key-art for external developers and pitch decks, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Design impactful marketing creatives such as app-store banners, splash screens, social-media ads, and UA campaign visuals.
  • Collaborate with UA managers to create A/B test-ready creatives optimized for conversion.
  • Work with analytics and production teams to iterate designs based on performance data.
  • Adapt UA art compositions and formats for multiple platforms.
  • Participate in brainstorming, sprint planning, and pipeline reviews, and maintain deadlines for asset delivery.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Illustration, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience as a 2D Concept Artist, ideally in game or art pipeline environments.
  • 2+ years designing UA or promotional game assets such as banners and icons.
  • Exceptional digital painting skills, strong composition, and visual storytelling ability.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard art software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Maya, Unity).
  • Strong communication skills within cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to incorporate feedback proactively and provide timely updates.
  • Basic understanding of analytics for UA creative insights.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of managing high volumes of assets.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with IP and maintaining brand fidelity.
  • Skills in animation for key UA assets.
  • Ability to create storyboards or promo visuals for visual storytelling.
  • Experience working in Unreal.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in Illustration, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or related field.
  • Experience in game/art pipeline environments and UA asset design.
