Job Description

About the Role

This position centers on real-time oversight of utility-scale solar facilities, ensuring optimal output and operational integrity. The role involves evaluating system performance, revenue trends, and external market dynamics such as demand, weather, and pricing forecasts. It also requires close collaboration with internal teams and external service providers to manage strategies. The role will be 100% remote and will work a schedule of Friday-Tuesday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous awareness of facility performance metrics and coordinate with internal and external operations teams as needed.
  • Act promptly on system alerts and irregular site conditions by notifying relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure each site maintains high availability and complies with operational directives, including output adjustments.
  • Oversee and fine-tune plant-level control systems, including voltage regulation, frequency response, and automated curtailment settings.
  • Investigate performance anomalies through data collection and analysis, working independently or with technical specialists.
  • Track and interpret market signals such as fuel pricing, demand forecasts, and weather impacts.
  • Submit and manage market participation inputs, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Review transmission-related insights and monitor grid conditions during weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy operations, preferably within solar or renewable sectors.
  • Familiarity with grid operator protocols and market structures is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with facility monitoring platforms and control systems.
  • Proficiency in SCADA, data acquisition, and backup systems; experience with platforms like GE Simplicity, Ignition, or Canary Labs is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of solar infrastructure, including both electrical and communication systems.
  • Experience using maintenance management software, ideally within a power generation context.
