About the Role

Position Summary... As a Data Analyst II, you'll be at the core of data-driven decision-making, transforming user behavior data into actionable insights that shape product development and business strategy. Your role involves researching, collecting, and analyzing data to uncover patterns and trends, ensuring that insights meet the high standards expected by our users. You'll collaborate closely with other Data Ventures teams to assess and interpret user data, helping guide the direction of our products and enhance the overall user experience. You'll also play a key role in the Data Enrichment team, working with partners across Walmart Digital Citizenship, Walmart Global Tech, and product teams to promote ethical and responsible data use. Your contributions will support the creation of new data products, improve product efficiency through cost-effective data enrichment, and safeguard data integrity to help customers succeed. You'll make an impact by partnering with business and product stakeholders to solve challenging business problems and identify trends and opportunities, applying your expertise in comparative data analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and provide actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering with business and product stakeholders to solve challenging business problems and identify trends and opportunities
  • Applying expertise in comparative data analysis, data mining, and data presentation to provide actionable insights
  • Demonstrating proficiency in writing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets from relational databases, including experience with Hive and Google BigQuery
  • Using Excel functions, pivot tables, and data visualization techniques for analysis and reporting
  • Defining and evaluating key performance metrics for accuracy to customer expectations
  • Identifying new levers to improve key financial data insights and understanding root causes for changes in metrics
  • Conducting exploratory data analysis including hypothesis testing, statistical inference, and statistical analysis
  • Collaborating with data stewards and data engineering teams to gather and process relevant information from various sources
  • Communicating data and insights effectively to non-technical leadership teams
  • Working alongside Account Management and Business Development teams to drive client retention and adoption

Requirements

  • Experience in the retail industry or accounting, finance, transportation, logistics sectors
  • Strong exploratory data analysis skills and ability to make data-driven recommendations
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries and experience with Hive and Google BigQuery
  • Proficiency in Excel, including functions, pivot tables, and data visualization
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Basic experience with Python, including Pandas and NumPy for data analysis and automation tasks

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Walmart Merchandising applications such as Scintilla, Nova, Merch 1, Supplier 1
  • Experience processing multi-dimensional data on cloud platforms (preferably Google BigQuery and Hive)
  • Data science, data analysis, statistics, or related field
  • Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, or related fields
  • Related industry experience (retail, merchandising, healthcare, eCommerce)
  • Successful completion of assessments in data analysis and Business Intelligence tools and scripting languages (SQL, Python, Spark, Scala, R, Power BI, Tableau)

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Arts, Finance or related field
  • Option 2: 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field
