About the Role

The Data Scientist role at Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America involves controlling end-to-end campaign experiments, performing complex data research and analysis to support marketing operations, developing data mining and predictive models, and communicating insights to management to enable data-driven decision making. The position requires liaising with stakeholders to develop data protocols and evaluating statistical reporting to improve business performance and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control end-to-end campaign experiments, including designing measurement plans, KPI frameworks, and performance analysis.
  • Perform complex data research and analysis to support marketing campaigns, digital and in-person benefit events.
  • Develop data mining and analysis methodologies to create algorithms and predictive models.
  • Perform custom statistical reporting and analysis with data automation based on business needs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and partners to develop and implement data mining protocols, architectures, and models.
  • Evaluate the accuracy of statistical reporting and interpret data analyses to generate insights.
  • Create data visualizations to track marketing KPIs, understand client relationships, and improve client services and products.
  • Communicate insights from analyses to management and senior leadership to support data-driven decisions.
  • Research emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.
  • Review data modeling, statistical reporting, and analysis performed by lower-level data scientists, providing coaching and feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Methods, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
  • Three years of experience in a related occupation, or alternatively, a Master's degree with one year of experience.
  • Experience in data research, analysis, and modeling.
  • Ability to communicate insights effectively to management and senior leadership.
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing data mining protocols and architectures.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with machine learning techniques.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools.
  • Experience working with large data sets and data automation.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant fields.
