About the Role

The Data Scientist I role is based in Watertown, MA, focusing on developing and implementing digital innovation solutions within a laboratory research setting. The position involves collaborating with research teams to enhance data management, visualization, and digital workflows, supporting scientific research through digital tools and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement digital innovation solutions by collaborating with researchers, laboratory staff, and the Digital Science team to understand their informatics needs and challenges.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement laboratory informatics solutions to access and visualize human data including public and proprietary data.
  • Streamline data management to enhance data accessibility, integrity, and usability while maintaining FAIR principles.
  • Ensure data management practices are efficient and aligned with the latest digital technologies.
  • Partner with the Digital & AI team to identify and deploy new digital solutions and ensure their effective integration into research workflows.
  • Train scientists on digital solutions and provide ongoing support, including developing training materials and conducting workshops.
  • Continuously evaluate current digital tools and propose new solutions to enhance research capabilities.
  • Manage digital solution projects from conception to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with research goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field with 2+ years of experience, or a Master's Degree with 1+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience in laboratory informatics, preferably in a pharmaceutical research setting.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with database management systems, data analysis tools, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Technical knowledge to configure, administer, and maintain digital solutions (vendor or home-built).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and data privacy standards in research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with digital solutions in a research or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Knowledge of digital technologies and their applications in scientific research.

Qualifications
