About the Role

The Data Steward - Product Owner position is a high-performing role in support of data management functions for a particular data domain within USIS. This individual will work within a team of data owners who serve as subject matter experts for the data sources, to ensure the appropriate quality, metadata management and internal and external support are in accordance with our service level commitments. Candidates should be courageous, tenacious, creative, optimistic and curious, with an appetite for growth in business-minded leadership. This role is located in Atlanta (Georgia).

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand processes within the data pipeline, supports at least 1 or more key processes within the data product pipeline.
  • Participate in and contribute to initiatives that improve business use of the data.
  • Understand one or more data product requirements (discoverability, accessibility, trustworthiness, privacy, self-describability, interoperability, security), and support implementation of a supporting practice with other groups.
  • Create communication materials about the data product.
  • Understand key data product financial metrics, suggest optimization efforts.
  • Participate in new data product initiatives.
  • Drive the support of migration activities as data sources move into the cloud, including running validation routines and coordinating project deliverables.
  • Own the development of automated, threshold-based reports to identify areas for improvement and act on findings in a timely manner.
  • Support the maintenance of metadata management artifacts (schemas, business rules, data dictionaries) in Collibra.
  • Support data quality, metadata management, and data source support in line with service level commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline; Master's Degree strongly preferred.
  • 2-5 years of analysis, product management, and/or consulting experience regarding data, preferably in financial services.
  • Familiarity with cloud and on-prem technologies, structured and unstructured data, streaming and reposed data.
  • Familiarity with SQL and BI Tools (Looker, BigQuery, Tableau, etc.) and desktop application suites (Microsoft or Google).
  • Cloud certification strongly preferred.
  • Developing detailed knowledge of the data and technology supporting a data product.
  • Understanding of processes within the data pipeline.
  • Basic knowledge of data product requirements such as discoverability, accessibility, trustworthiness, privacy, self-describability, interoperability, and security.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with cloud and on-prem technologies, structured and unstructured data, streaming and reposed data.
  • A strong sense of governance protocols and regulatory, security, and compliance policies.
  • Experience with Collibra or similar metadata management tools.
  • Experience with Looker or similar data visualization tools.
  • Experience with SQL, Google BigQuery, Python, Java, or equivalent database queries and views.
  • Demonstrates leadership with cross-functional efforts and develops effective working relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously.
  • Creativity, drive, and a desire to grow in thought leadership, initiative, and strategic thinking.
