Job Description

About the Role

Support IMEO's data integration activities by researching and analyzing data from the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP2.0), scientific literature, and other empirical data sources to create high quality actionable methane related data products that will be the foundation of IMEO's data platform. The role involves working remotely within a UN Environment Programme initiative focused on collecting, integrating, and reconciling methane emissions data from diverse sources to support global climate efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support IMEO in the development of data products for IMEO's internal database and external data platform by collecting and analyzing relevant data from OGMP2.0 and other external sources.
  • Assist the OGMP2.0 team with analyses to complete the annual industry reporting cycle.
  • Perform analyses at the intersection between OGMP2.0 and data integration support teams, including retrieving industry reporting and infrastructure data from multiple databases.
  • Bridge analytical activities across cross-organizational workstreams such as OGMP2.0, data integration, data platform, and data architecture.
  • Contribute to IMEO's emission data repository by ingesting diverse emission data streams (remote sensing data, science studies, industry self-reported data, inventories) into IMEO's database.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of IMEO's emission data repository by collaborating with external data providers.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in atmospheric sciences, engineering, geology or a related field.
  • Relevant work or research experience related to atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHG).
  • Familiarity with scientific literature in atmospheric sciences or related fields.
  • Experience with data compilation and/or databases preferred.
  • Three or more years of relevant study or work experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work with partners of diverse backgrounds and experience.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver tasks effectively and on time.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with emissions inventories and measurement-based methane emissions data.
  • Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
