About the Role

The Lead Director, Software Development Engineering at CVS Health is responsible for building and executing the pharmacy modernization technology strategy across multiple pharmacy value streams. This role involves collaborating with business and product leaders to plan, build, and deliver a multi-year modernization roadmap, leading diverse engineering teams across geographies, and driving industry-leading technology assets to support healthcare and pharmacy solutions. The position emphasizes innovation, operational efficiency, and strategic growth within a mission-driven healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for leading the strategy and creation of a multi-year modernization roadmap to support modernization of Retail Pharmacy value streams
Accountable for leading the design, foundational framework and development of retail pharmacy products and associated technology assets
Assess software engineering practices, drive continuous improvement, improve operational efficiency, time to market, and overall product quality
Lead engineering teams, guiding and mentoring them in implementing solutions across a wide range of technology platforms
Manage people including hiring, performance management, team building, coaching, and setting measurable professional goals
Build and cultivate strong relationships with Business, Product, and Technology partners to support the delivery roadmap
Establish relationships and partnerships with vendors to support staffing needs through onshore, offshore, and nearshore teams
Collaborate with solution vendors to support technology needs
Engage in technology research and innovation to develop long-term strategies based on emerging trends in healthcare and technology industries

Requirements

10+ years of Technology Delivery experience
5+ years of experience leading high performing engineering teams
5+ years of experience in application development using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, React, Kubernetes, Docker
3+ years of experience in GCP / AWS cloud
2+ years of experience using AI tools and delivering solutions
A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Experience working with distributed teams across multiple time zones and geographies
Experience in the health and wellness domain
Experience conceiving and building healthcare products
Performance / people management experience
Experience conceiving and building products for Pharmacy
Experience in Healthcare or Pharmacy technology
Experience working with offshore vendors
Experience working with technology vendors
A strong work ethic, self-starter attitude, and ability to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
