Job Description

About the Role

The Lead Web Developer at American National Group Services LLC is responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining web-based systems to support business requirements. The role involves managing development projects, ensuring adherence to coding standards, and providing technical support, all within a team environment. The position is based in Galveston, TX, with telecommuting options available within the county.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements and translate them into supporting system specifications, producing simple technical documentation.
  • Code readable, reliable, and maintainable programs using various languages and tools such as IBM BPM/BAW, ODM, Java, J2EE, Angular, NodeJS, and others on multiple platforms.
  • Review test results with the business and make necessary adjustments to deliverables.
  • Follow and enforce coding standards and guidelines, review work of team members.
  • Respond promptly to production issues by serving on an on-call rotation for 24-hour support.
  • Prepare initial problem definitions, define project scope and objectives, and determine specific requirements.
  • Design system solutions for all levels of service requests, applying cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
  • Provide analytical support for the ongoing maintenance of developed systems.
  • Set coding standards, best practices, and architectural direction, manage project schedules and budgets, and communicate with business users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a web-based software development environment performing related duties.
  • Experience with creating and managing Automate workflows using IBM BAW/BPM.
  • Experience with verifying and creating complex views, queries, and stored procedures with SQL Server databases.
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design concepts and implementation.
  • Experience assessing software security risks, implementing OWASP recommendations, and optimizing application performance.
  • Experience participating in full product lifecycle including requirements gathering, prototyping, testing, QA, and deployment.
  • Experience creating integration services in BPM to communicate with external systems.
  • Experience customizing user interfaces and building reusable components for workflow implementation.

  • Educational background in relevant technical fields as specified in requirements.
