And we do it all with heart, each and every day. We are seeking an analytical professional to join our Medical Economics - Medical Expense Review (MER) team. The primary goals of this team are to identify and communicate provider, procedure, and population level trends and outliers impacting medical cost trends, and to analyze and size potential savings initiatives in coordination with clinical, finance, and network leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and communicate provider, procedure, and population level trends and outliers impacting medical cost trends.
  • Analyze and size potential savings initiatives in coordination with clinical, finance, and network leads.
  • Utilize enterprise reporting tools to navigate, comprehend, and extract findings from data.
  • Create data visualizations to effectively communicate trend stories.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analyses to answer specific clinical or financial questions.

Requirements

  • Relevant analytical financial experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience with key managed care functions including provider and population analytics, provider contracting, benefit design, and medical management.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables, formulas for financial modeling, and data visualization.
  • Ability to use Web-based query tools to pull and analyze data.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and analytic approaches.

Nice to Have

  • Skills within SQL coding to run ad-hoc analyses for clinical or financial questions.
  • Extensive knowledge of managed care and provider reimbursement policies.
  • Understanding of the healthcare industry, including inpatient and outpatient services, facility and professional claims, and population impacts.
  • Experience with underwriting, sales, product development, or network management.
  • SQL coding experience (preferred but not required).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
