About the Role

The Online Senior Data Engineer at The Home Depot is responsible for translating business requirements into scalable data infrastructure, acquiring and transforming datasets, developing algorithms, and maintaining database pipelines. They build, test, and support enterprise data solutions, ensuring data integrity and operational efficiency. The role involves collaboration with business and technical teams to leverage data science for competitive advantage and continuous improvement of analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage extensive business knowledge into solution approach; develop trust and collaboration with internal customers and cross-functional teams; provide education on advanced analytics to technical and non-technical partners; seek new business opportunities to leverage data science as a competitive advantage.
  • Work with project teams and business partners to determine project goals; provide direction on prioritization and ensure quality; mentor and coach junior team members; support recruiting and team resource allocation.
  • Execute tasks efficiently and with high quality; select and interpret advanced analytical methodologies; communicate insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders; prepare reports, updates, and presentations; communicate impacts of recommendations to drive alignment.
  • Guide project teams in requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications; seek knowledge on developments in analytics, technical skills, and data sources; participate in improving predictive and prescriptive analytics by developing replicable solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in data engineering, primarily in Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience developing and testing ETL jobs/pipelines, configuring orchestration, automated CI/CD, and writing automation scripts.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with SQL query writing, performance tuning, and building batch and streaming pipelines.
  • Ability to stitch and maintain data from multiple sources; produce tags for site data; use tools like PySpark, AirFlow, DataProc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
  • Knowledge of metadata and rules for ETL processes; optimizing pipeline runtime and cost.
  • Prior experience in predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis.

Nice to Have

  • General technical SEO knowledge.
  • 2+ years of Search Engine Optimization work experience.
  • Data engineering experience in Google Cloud Platform.
  • 1+ years of Enterprise architecture experience.
  • 1+ years of Enterprise AI solutioning, primarily Vertex/Gemini.
  • Knowledge of product management.
  • Experience with Large Language Models for content generation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Preferred master's degree or equivalent in a related field.
