As a Quality Engineer Lead within PNC's Lending Technology organization, you will be remotely based in the New York market. This is a remote position. Work may be performed from a quiet, confidential space in a home location, approved by PNC. This position may not be available in all geographic locations. PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Lead to champion our testing strategy and ensure the delivery of high-quality software across our platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of developer workflows and the ability to work closely with engineering teams to support Agile, test-driven development. The ideal candidate will be experienced in automation testing, proficient with tools such as Karate, Gherkin, Cucumber, and passionate about building robust, scalable test solutions. As a leader, you'll mentor QA engineers, advocate for quality-first practices, and help drive improvements in test coverage, reliability, and team efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of automated testing frameworks and test strategies.
  • Collaborate with developers to understand application architecture and integrate effective testing solutions.
  • Promote behavior-driven development (BDD) through tools like Gherkin and Cucumber.
  • Mentor and guide other quality engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Drive quality efforts throughout the SDLC in an Agile, ticket-based environment.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve test processes, speed up feedback loops, and ensure efficient defect tracking and resolution.
  • Bring strategic direction to testing and act as the subject matter expert for both the quality discipline and a line of business domain(s).
  • Lead the review of testing artifacts throughout the product life-cycle to ensure appropriate sign off and prioritization of testing work.
  • Coordinate test strategy, scripting, and defect resolution.
  • Ensure early engagement with internal partners and proactive planning to focus on quality early in the product lifecycle.
  • Take accountability for quality standards in the development, implementation, and upkeep of test scripts and automation opportunities.
  • Develop meaningful management metrics to gauge project health and identify trends for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of developer workflows and Agile, test-driven development practices.
  • Experience in automation testing with tools such as Karate, Gherkin, and Cucumber.
  • Experience leading testing strategies and designing automated testing frameworks.
  • Ability to mentor and guide QA engineers and promote quality-first practices.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience, typically requiring a university/college degree.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle, software quality assurance, and testing processes.
  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and process management skills.
  • Experience with defect tracking, test scripting, and automation opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
