About the Role

The Senior Data Engineer, Marketing Operations at Root Insurance Company is responsible for driving marketing operations, finance, analytics, and data science enablement by supporting complex technical implementations, collaborating with stakeholders to define strategy, and building data infrastructure to enable rapid decision-making. Key Responsibilities

Partner with Marketing, Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Insurance teams to set strategic direction for upcoming quarters.
Identify and socialize key technical initiatives to improve product, system, and team effectiveness.
Coach and guide engineers in planning experiments and projects aligned with strategic objectives.
Contribute code each development cycle to advance team impact.
Lead incident response efforts to improve system resiliency.
Coordinate with Staff Engineers to establish and promote standards and best practices.

Requirements

4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Expertise in Python, Terraform, SQL, and Spark.
Expertise in Cloud Architecture, with AWS preferred.
Excellent communication skills with engineering colleagues and senior business leaders.
Proven leadership in projects involving multiple teams across domains.

Nice to Have

Expertise in Machine Learning Operations.
Experience in Data Driven Marketing.
