About the Role

Schneider Electric is seeking a Senior Cloud/Backend Engineer to work on Azure-based API-first cloud applications, focusing on products for advanced home and building automation with smart energy management. The role involves extending and improving existing cloud applications, building new APIs, and ensuring effective operations within Schneider Electric’s digital infrastructure. The position offers hybrid work in Belgrade/Novi Sad and is part of a company committed to sustainability, inclusion, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Extend and improve existing Cloud applications using Java Spring Boot, RabbitMQ, MySQL, and Azure.
Build new APIs interfacing between spaceLYnk Edge Controllers and mobile applications.
Ensure the use of Schneider Electric's Digital infrastructure for effective operations, including migrating legacy systems.
Follow a DevOps philosophy to own and maintain deployment and observability infrastructure (GitHub workflows, Graphana, Sentry).
Ensure good coding practices and drive towards maintainable, testable architecture.
Iterate quickly and deliver continuously.
Mentor and support other engineers.

Requirements

5+ years of professional backend development experience.
Experience architecting and operating microservices-based systems.
Knowledge of Java and Java Spring Boot.
Experience with relational databases like MySQL, Postgresql, or SQL Server.
Understanding of distributed systems and messaging brokers like RabbitMQ.
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
Deep experience building RESTful APIs.
Experience building OAuth2 authentication and authorization systems.
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and data privacy considerations.
Experience with DevOps practices, including running high-performing systems with observability and monitoring.
Ability to write effective unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
Full-stack capability to work with React Native/Angular frontend code is a plus.
