Senior Research Engineer - AI/ML for Speech Synthesis and Processing

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and evaluate state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms for use in next-generation speech technologies.
• Implement and optimize algorithms for Sony's future products and services.
• Document all phases of research and development activities.
• Create new technical and domain expertise and apply it to products and problems.
• Design and develop algorithms and software applications, offering advanced technical expertise.
• Assess and improve algorithms and software through coding and testing.
• Collaborate with Sony-related groups such as overseas research labs, entertainment, and electronics divisions.
• Present research findings and contribute to the industry-leading entertainment technology community.
• Author papers and write invention disclosures for developed algorithms and systems.
• Establish and participate in academic collaborations and draft patent applications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree, Ph.D. candidate, or MS degree with at least 3 years of related experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Research background in AI/Machine Learning, Speech Synthesis, and related areas.
• Excellent skills in neural network modeling and analysis.
• Ability to formulate optimization flows using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent deep learning frameworks.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or modern C++ for rapid algorithm prototyping.
• Knowledge of zero-shot and/or few-shot learning techniques.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Flexibility to work remotely and/or onsite as needed.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge and experience in natural language processing.
• Knowledge and experience in image processing, computer vision, or related fields.

Qualifications

• Educational background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with a Ph.D., candidacy, or MS degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

• Estimated annual base salary range: $140,000 to $165,000 with a 10% bonus target.
