Job Description

About the Role

Amazon Web Services is looking for experienced Engineering Leader to help define and build the future of cloud computing. This position is a leadership role with a newly formed EC2 Networking team. You will lead a team contributing towards building forwarding and encapsulation services in EC2 to support large scale networking and new features within AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The role involves working on high-performance systems software, including kernel and embedded development, to process millions of packets per second, impacting both internal and external customers and providing opportunities for growth and collaboration with senior engineers across AWS and Amazon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being an engineer on a small team, mentoring junior engineers, ensuring the right development practices are followed.
  • Work with the engineering team to manage the day-to-day development activities by leading architecture decisions, participating in designs, design review, code review, and implementation.
  • Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a lookout for new technologies and working with management and development team in bringing new technologies.
  • Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
