Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Learn our codebase and technologies through pairing and contributing to existing initiatives, delivering code to production within the first week.
• Discover our processes, practices, and career development pathways, working closely with your manager.
• Independently progress on major product initiatives by owning parts of larger projects and collaborating with product managers and engineers.
• Identify and address structural issues in the codebase, including critical tech debt, to improve product reliability and developer experience.
• Work efficiently in application support, time-box solutions, and communicate tradeoffs effectively.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold best practices across the team.
• Discuss QA and release processes to ensure broad support and issue triage.
• Assist in planning, assessing, and leading projects to ensure proper definition and process adherence.
• Mentor colleagues and promote an inclusive, high-performing culture through daily actions and participation in onboarding and interviews.

Requirements

• Advanced experience as a Full Stack Ruby on Rails + React developer.
• Recognized within your organization as a go-to person for difficult questions.
• Strongly opinionated about automated testing and capable of determining necessary testing levels for features.
• Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright.
• Interest and experience in mentorship and coaching of engineers.
• Experience leading projects and collaborating with engineers and stakeholders.
• Ability to lead system designs for new features and initiatives.
• Set best practices to maintain codebase health.
• A team player who removes roadblocks and prioritizes high-impact work.

Nice to Have

• Experience with security practices.

Qualifications

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and React.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Strong understanding of security practices is a plus.

Benefits & Perks

• Starting base salary typically between $110,000 and $191,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
• Total compensation includes cash and equity.
