Senior Software Engineering Manager

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead agile engineering teams supporting technology solutions development on the Loan IQ application
• Ensure the Loans/Loan IQ platform is reliable, robust, and sustainable, while adhering to best practices
• Provide expert functional insights into the design and implementation of the Loan IQ system, including guidance on native functionalities and custom development
• Manage, coach, and develop teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers responsible for building high-quality capabilities with modern technology
• Partner with architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, including cloud readiness, application modernization, and data strategy
• Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
• Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers
• Engage and influence product leaders, system architects, and engineering managers to align on technical strategies and outcomes
• Identify and recommend opportunities for resolving technology roadblocks related to code, build, and deployment, while managing the software development cycle and security standards
• Determine strategies and actions as an escalation partner for scrum teams to meet high-risk deliverables and remove impediments
• Interpret and develop actionable strategies and plans for engineering teams and supported areas
• Oversee engineering teams to deliver commitments aligned with business priorities
• Support financial forecasting and budget development
• Recommend risk management requirements and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
• Collaborate with stakeholders, product leaders, and professionals at all levels, including senior managers
• Act as the primary interface with third-party vendors and technology service providers
• Manage allocation of people and financial resources to meet commitments and strategic objectives
• Develop and guide a culture of talent development and mentor senior engineers and managers
• Collaborate within and across agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions
• Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements such as security, stability, and scalability
• Partner with product managers to drive business outcomes and influence technology requirements
• Lead a team of engineers and engineering managers, ensuring adherence to architecture standards and best practices
• Build engineering skills, conduct peer reviews, and guide design solutions
• Identify, manage, and mitigate technology and enterprise risks
• Promote agile and DevOps practices and influence product roadmaps

Requirements

• 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent through work experience, training, military experience, or education
• 3+ years of management or leadership experience
• 3+ years of technology leadership and people management experience
• 6+ years of engineering experience in application design and development
• 5+ years of experience working with the Loan IQ platform with proven track record on technology development and integrations

Nice to Have

• Expertise in development with Loan IQ APIs, underlying Loan IQ data model and components
• SQL and core Java development skills
• Prior experience with migrating loans from legacy Loan accounting applications to Loan IQ
• 5+ years of responsibility for technology strategy, execution, and application support
• 5+ years of technology delivery and relationship management in a large corporate environment
• 3+ years of experience in Agile transformation
• Functional understanding of commercial lending processes and workflows
• Experience in application and solution design using modern architecture principles (microservices, cloud)
• Experience leading agile teams and delivering solutions in a large-scale matrixed environment
