The Senior Staff Software Engineer role is within the Sportsbook team, focusing on creating innovative customer experiences and advancing internal technology through leadership in architecture, design, and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Director of Engineering and fellow engineers to harness innovative technologies and create cutting-edge customer experiences.
  • Work in empowered, multidisciplinary teams to tackle complex challenges and build solutions for a rapidly growing company.
  • Write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects.
  • Participate in team design, scoping, and prioritization discussions.
  • Influence frontend architectural direction, systems design, and software implementation for the Sportsbook application.
  • Act as a thought leader and mentor for engineering teams, driving operational excellence and engineering standards.
  • Resolve complex issues with a hands-on approach and influence technical decisions across large engineering verticals.
  • Keep up to date with market standards and open-source frameworks.
  • Contribute to the professional development of engineers through coaching and mentoring.
  • Provide excellent customer support on an on-call rotation when required.

Requirements

  • Expert level experience building and designing highly scalable, fault tolerant, and highly available systems.
  • Experience influencing technical decisions across large engineering teams.
  • Understanding of a broad range of complex data structures and algorithms.
  • Expertise in design patterns and architectural principles.
  • Experience in both iOS and React Native development, with a proven history of improving render performance.
  • Deep expertise in Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI, and a strong understanding of iOS architecture patterns.
  • Knowledge of quality best practices within the SDLC, including unit testing and testing tools.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive to achieve operational excellence.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics to stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to influence teams and promote Agile ways of working, including scaled agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in delegating responsibilities, mentoring, and empowering team members.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrable knowledge.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in making pragmatic trade-off decisions between short- and long-term needs.
  • Experience with open-source frameworks and market standards.
  • Familiarity with operational excellence, security, and quality practices.

  • Salary range of $182,000 - $228,000 depending on experience and location.
