We are the eBay Seller Experience Team, dedicated to driving impactful projects and encouraging an outstanding, inclusive team culture. We are looking to bring on a mid-level Software Engineer for our Seller Experience - Inventory Management team, working on one of the largest and most dynamic e-commerce platforms in the world, creating and handling billions of listings and influencing millions of sellers and buyers globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of backend systems using JAVA/J2EE and NoSQL, ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Analyze and enhance the speed, efficiency, scalability, stability, availability, and security of customer-facing applications and APIs, implementing standard methodologies and innovative solutions.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and testing infrastructure to ensure production-level readiness and maintainability.
  • Create and oversee the development of automation tests in Java, JUnit, Selenium, and other internal Java-based automation frameworks for REST/GraphQL services and messaging components.
  • Collaborate with product managers, business units, and UI design teams to understand product requirements and translate them into engineering specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong background in designing and building scalable systems for large-scale online platforms.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Java, C++, or similar, and extensive experience with frameworks and technologies like J2EE, Spring, GraphQL, ORACLE, and NoSQL databases.
  • In-depth understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Proven track record with analyzing complex problems and developing efficient, innovative solutions, with a focus on optimizing performance and scalability.
  • Experience in system architecture and design, including creating and maintaining high-performing, reliable, and secure applications.
  • Experience in leading architectural discussions and driving technology strategy.
  • Strong skills in developing automated tests using tools like JUnit, Selenium, and other testing frameworks to ensure software quality and reliability.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud platforms and services.
  • Knowledge of REST/GraphQL API development and messaging components.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
