Job Description

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Compute Platform Team, you will play a critical role in supporting the daily operations of our computer qualification labs. You'll ensure that all hardware, software, and network systems function efficiently while contributing to the development and execution of automated tests for hardware platform qualification. Our benchmarking and test infrastructure provides automated tools to evaluate hardware performance, validate integration stability, verify system requirements, and assess resource utilization. You'll be part of a team driving the compute platforms behind the next generation of GE HealthCare imaging products. The Compute Platform Team manages the full lifecycle of compute platforms used in GE Imaging systems—from collaborating with suppliers on emerging technologies to qualifying current platforms and ensuring long-term reliability in the field. The team also develops hardware/OS solutions, manages design changes, and enables early-stage system-level testing to accelerate product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the computer qualification labs to ensure functionality and availability.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and test infrastructure.
  • Manage lab schedules and policies to support experimentation, testing, and qualification activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, networks, and operating systems.
  • Execute manual and automated tests to validate hardware functionality, performance, and stability.
  • Develop manual and automated tests in python, bash or c/c++.
  • Analyze test results and perform quality audits on test data and reports.
  • Maintain and enhance the automated test framework to ensure high-quality compute platform validation.
  • Explore the use of AI-based technologies to improve testing efficiency and lab operations.
  • Support modernization and migration of existing tools to new platforms and operating systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to resolve complex issues and support new product delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
  • Hands-on experience with computer hardware, including GPUs, storage, and system integration.
  • Strong understanding of external hardware interfaces (e.g., USB, Ethernet).
  • Proficiency with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Skilled in scripting and programming languages such as BASH, Python, C++, or Java.
  • Grasp of software and hardware testing methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience in lab operations, IT support, or a testing environment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across hardware, networks, OS, VMs, and applications.
  • Experience with testing frameworks and profiling tools for HW/OS/Application analysis.
  • Deep understanding of workstation and server-class hardware integration best practices.
  • Familiarity with various testing types: sanity, exploratory, regression, integration, and performance.
  • Proven ability to deliver timely, effective solutions for complex testing and debugging challenges.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience supporting medical device development or testing.

Qualifications

  • Educational background as specified in requirements.

Benefits & Perks

  • GE HealthCare offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
