About the Role

We are looking for motivated and talented Software Engineers who want to help us solve some of the most complex challenges in financial technology. Technology teams at CME Group write and maintain ultra low-latency electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, and front-end trading interfaces, all of which are central to CME Group's business. Software Engineers at CME Group will gain unparalleled experience in electronic trading and financial technology, working on a variety of applications and projects that directly impact the global trading ecosystem. The role involves participating in a Rotational Development Program, working on cloud infrastructure, blockchain technologies, and trading lifecycle applications, with opportunities for career advancement upon program completion. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Chicago, with amenities such as a coffee and snack bar, game room, and social spaces.

Key Responsibilities

Conducts coding at a small task level; potentially minimal design.
Conducts unit testing of own code. Reviews unit tests with mentor.
Exhibits basic proficiency in language knowledge; Writes application modules and unit tests with guidance.
Exhibits knowledge of basic database SQL and basic database modeling.
Implements designs received from managers or immediate supervisors.
Optimizes code with supervision. Applies learning from prior code reviews and helps with environment build deployments. Corrects identified defects and issues.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of SQL and performance of basic modeling.
Experience in object-oriented design and software development.
Proficiency in Java and/or Python.
Experience with source control and build tools (e.g., GIT, Stash).
Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Curiosity, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

Nice to Have

Experience developing server-side applications.
Experience working in financial technology.
Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and shell scripting.
Experience in Javascript or REACT.
Experience working with cloud technologies.

Qualifications

Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship (CPT, H1B, F1, L, etc.).
