About the Role

Software Engineer II at Honeywell, reporting to the Engineering Manager, working out of Mason, OH or Atlanta, GA on a Hybrid schedule. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software applications in accordance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software specifications and requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and team members.
  • Solve complex technical problems for customers while applying high standards of customer support.
  • Provide escalation technical support for software and controls related production impacting events.
  • Identify, investigate, troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical issues.
  • Create detailed 5-whys root cause analysis documents, as applicable.
  • Debug software defects and analyze source code for proprietary material-handling control systems.
  • Build business acumen by addressing customer's technical needs.
  • Maintain flexibility with occasional on-call duties and travel less than 10%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development or related roles.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, C++, or Python.
  • Proficiency with software development tools, version control systems, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with software testing frameworks and debugging tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • At least 2 years of experience programming in C/C++ and troubleshooting controls system software.
  • At least 1 year of experience programming PLC and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic.
  • At least 1 year of experience with SQL, creating queries, data analysis, or troubleshooting database issues.
  • At least 1 year of customer support or customer-facing experience.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience developing software for embedded systems or real-time applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Thorough understanding of various software development lifecycles.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely convey complex messages to diverse audiences.
  • Ambitious and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Electrical/Electronic troubleshooting background.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or developing junior engineers.
