The Software Engineer III, Payments role resides on the Payments Engineering Team, focusing on enabling secure, compliant, and flexible payment processing between customers and hackers, primarily on the backend with some front-end involvement. The position offers remote work options within Austin, TX or Washington DC areas, with periodic in-person interactions to support team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Join the engineering team and complete onboarding to understand the technology stack including Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and ReactJS.
Develop and maintain backend-heavy payment processing code, with occasional front-end work.
Understand the business value of products and features, translating feature requests into robust engineering solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, execution, and alignment across multiple domains.
Support and learn from senior and staff engineers to contribute to a positive team culture.
Take ownership of personal growth and professional development.
Help build scalable solutions while fostering strong team relationships.

Requirements

4+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering, especially within a SAAS environment.
Experience developing applications with Ruby on Rails and ReactJS.
Successful track record of shipping projects quickly with dependencies across technical and non-technical teams.
Excellent team player with strong communication skills.
Experience in payment systems such as bank transfers, PayPal, Stripe, and Bitcoin.

Nice to Have

Expertise or interest in generative AI, ElasticSearch / OpenSearch.
