The role involves supporting the development and rollout of the ARISE Analytics platform, focusing on data engineering, design, implementation, and mentorship within a high-tech defense environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and refinement of a large scale data storage system.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior data and software engineers.
  • Establish standard processes for development and production-ready analytics solutions.
  • Stay connected with academic research and apply best-of-breed solutions to technical challenges.
  • Work with teams including Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, system domain experts, and Project Managers to understand technical problems and apply data engineering and analytics solutions.
  • Support the design of data pipelines, data strategies, and program processes.
  • Define and communicate a long-term roadmap for a modern data platform, including guiding principles, data architecture standards, and technology stack decisions.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance and must be a US Citizen.
  • Experience with the Python programming language.
  • Experience working in an Agile team structure.
  • Adaptability with rapidly changing technologies and willingness to learn and integrate emerging tools and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and optimize relational database systems using SQL.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, dimensional modeling, normalized schemas, and entity-relationship diagrams.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data quality, lineage, and metadata management.
  • Experience with DevOps and DataOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Helm, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD.

Nice to Have

  • 6+ years experience leading Data Engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of data security best practices, encryption, and role-based access controls.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining high-volume, reliable, and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Familiarity with performance tuning, query optimization, caching strategies, and monitoring/logging tools.
  • Proven experience with Apache Arrow for in-memory data handling and Parquet for scalable storage.

Qualifications

  • Experience with the Python programming language.
  • Experience working in an Agile team structure.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
