As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX or Phoenix, AZ. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager's discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aligns business strategy with software solutions.
  • Proposes, designs & codes software solutions to address complex business needs. Oversees technical and procedural documentation required.
  • Leads complex problem solving.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development.
  • Displays an innovative approach to apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.
  • Support production systems through performance optimization, problem resolution, vulnerability and platform compliance, and timely issue communications within cyber security.
  • Maintain, utilize, and modify applications' operational runbooks and perform business continuity failover activities for critical applications.
  • After hours support for product incidences, production implementations and escalations.

Requirements

  • In-depth Linux and server-based platform knowledge for deployment, integration, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of application infrastructure.
  • Experience with databases queries (SQL/Oracle/Teradata/Hadoop), software development (Java and C), and API development within custom and vendor provided applications.
  • Working knowledge of networking, infrastructure management and firewall technologies.
  • Support production systems through performance optimization, problem resolution, vulnerability and platform compliance, and timely issue communications within cyber security.
  • Comfortable speaking to internal customers and partners and articulating technologies to other engineers.
  • Maintain, utilize, and modify applications' operational runbooks and perform business continuity activities.
  • After hours support for product incidences, production implementations, and escalations.

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc) and containerization/Kubernetes.
  • Windows Experience.
  • Encryption and Tokenization Systems Experience (Protegirty technology).
  • Programming/Scripting experience with .NET, PowerShell, vbscript.
  • Experience with Diagnostic Software: WireShark, Windows Command-line, Process Explorer and other Security systems and applications vendors including Open Source.

Qualifications

  • Roles at this level typically require a university/college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience.
  • Specific certifications are often required.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered.
  • Preferred skills include application development, business management, customer solutions, design, group problem solving, process improvements, release management, software solutions, and user experience (UX) design.
  • Competencies include application design, architecture, packaged application integration, product and vendor evaluation, software process improvement (SPI), system development life cycle, and technical troubleshooting.
