About the Role

Meta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineering Manager to join Reality Labs Research Engineering. The role involves supporting, enabling, and empowering a team of engineers to deliver high-quality products and solutions that make a meaningful impact on billions of people worldwide. The position requires progressive technical experience and demonstrated management responsibility, with a focus on innovation and collaboration in a research environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality products and solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical innovation
Develop and implement technical strategies to achieve business objectives
Foster an environment of continuous learning, growth, and improvement

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience, or PhD + 4 years of relevant experience, including hands-on technical management
Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, and leading technical organizations, including performance management
Bachelor of Science/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring, and developing software engineers
2+ years of experience managing a team of engineers with varied skill levels

Nice to Have

Experience with 3D graphics rendering (Vulkan, Direct3D, Metal, or lower level APIs)
Experience with game engines (Unity or Unreal)
Experience with Augmented Reality/Mixed Reality/Virtual Reality development
Experience with computer vision
5+ years of experience with modern C++ (C++11 or later)
Experience with firmware development
Knowledge of optics and photonics
Experience with distributed graphics rendering
Experience with machine learning
Experience collaborating with hardware (mechanical, electrical) engineers
Experience working in a research environment

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Demonstrated experience in technical management and team leadership
