Software Quality Test Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain automated tests/frameworks for API-based applications using Python, Java, or .NET, and deploy those tests as part of the build process.
• Develop test plans, test cases, and test strategies for new and existing features, and execute manual and automated tests to ensure software meets functional and non-functional requirements.
• Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to understand features and ensure testability, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features while maintaining high quality.
• Implement and maintain automated test suites within a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline to ensure consistent testing.
• Develop and execute performance and load tests to verify product performance under various conditions.
• Identify, report, and track defects through resolution, working with development teams for timely bug resolution and retesting.
• Monitor deployments and collaborate with SREs to collect data on application performance in real-world scenarios.
• Promote quality engineering practices, including test-driven development (TDD), automation best practices, and the use of relevant tools.

Requirements

• Strong experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.
• Experience testing against relational databases like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DBeaver, Azure Studio, MSSMS, etc.
• Experience with test automation frameworks such as Pytest, Postman, Requests, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, Cypress, Appium.
• Knowledge of API testing tools like Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI.
• Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies including unit, integration, functional, regression, and performance testing.
• Experience in developing and maintaining test cases and automated test scripts.
• Proficiency in SQL Server and API testing and automation.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify root causes of issues.
• Ability to work in an agile team environment and collaborate effectively with developers, analysts, and stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documenting test results and defects.

Nice to Have

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Familiarity with test management tools like Jira, Zephyr.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner.
• Experience with containerization and virtualization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Annual pay range: $80,000-110,000 per year.
