This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week (Wednesday & Thursday). This role is within Nationwide Financial Technology Annuity. This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead application development and design responsibilities in support of the Annuity Broker Dealer projects on the Mainframe platform. Additional responsibilities include capability uplift around Mainframe software engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
  • Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree, or technology experience/non-traditional certificates as a substitute.
  • Ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Cobol experience is a plus.
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or related field, or equivalent technology experience.
