Job Description

About the Role

Gartner's HR Technology organization is driving a unified, innovative solution architecture across Workday, third-party HR products, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies. As a Solution Engineer, you'll be the connective force between HR, IT, and business teams—designing, documenting, and delivering integrated solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. Gartner IT values its culture of nonstop innovation, an outcome-driven approach to success, and the notion that great ideas can come from anyone on the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Solution Design: Architect and design integrated HR technology solutions, collaborating with delivery teams and business partners to solve complex business challenges.
  • Drive Integration: Develop and document integration patterns using REST and SOAP APIs, middleware, and low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Workday Extend, Power Platform).
  • Document Solutions: Create and maintain clear, detailed architecture artifacts including ERDs, process flows, capability diagrams, and data mappings.
  • Communicate & Present: Translate complex technical solutions into clear, compelling presentations for non-technical stakeholders and executives, highlighting business impacts and tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Act as the 'glue' between HR, IT, and business units, proactively identifying gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for alignment.
  • Champion Outcomes: Measure success by business impact and user adoption, taking accountability for solutions from ideation through continuous improvement.
  • Navigate Ambiguity: Operate effectively in environments with overlapping responsibilities, undefined processes, and evolving priorities.
  • Promote Best Practices: Advocate for architectural principles, integration strategies, and continuous improvement across the HR technology portfolio.
  • Stay Curious: Keep up with HR tech trends, emerging platforms, and best practices to inform solution design and innovation.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years' experience designing and delivering technical solutions in an enterprise environment, ideally HR tech, especially Workday.
  • Technical Skills: Integration using REST & SOAP APIs, middleware (e.g., Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, Workday Studio), SFTP, webhooks.
  • Low-Code/No-Code platforms: Workday Extend, ServiceNow, Power Platform.
  • Solution Documentation: ERDs, process flows, capability diagrams, data mapping.
  • Scripting familiarity (Python, PowerShell) a plus.
  • Business Acumen: Proven ability to translate business needs into technical and functional requirements, with clear articulation of business impacts and tradeoffs.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including experience with executive presentations.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to build trust and partnerships across cross-functional teams.
  • Ownership: Track record of high initiative and accountability in ambiguous, collaborative settings.
  • Agile Experience: Experience working in Agile environments, writing user stories, and participating in iterative delivery.

Nice to Have

  • Scripting familiarity (Python, PowerShell).

Qualifications

  • Educational background or certifications are not explicitly specified, but 4-8 years' experience in technical solution design in enterprise environments is required.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Limitless growth and learning opportunities.
  • Ongoing mentorship and apprenticeship; leadership courses, development programs, technical courses, certification opportunities and more.
  • A collaborative and positive culture with a diverse team.
  • A chance to make an impact contributing directly to company strategy.
  • Flexible work environment including work from home and office collaboration.
  • 20+ PTO days plus holidays and floating holidays in the first year.
  • Extensive medical, dental insurance, and vision plans.
  • 401K with corporate match, immediate vesting.
