Staff Software Development Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality automation software that meets business needs.
• Build highly scalable microservices, event-driven systems, and real-time streaming pipelines.
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code using best practices and design patterns.
• Collaborate with business partners, product owners, architecture, security teams, and IT engineering to understand requirements and design specifications.
• Conduct research on emerging technologies, design principles, and frameworks to ensure solutions remain current and future-proof.
• Provide technical guidance in software design and development activities.
• Mentor junior team members to develop their technical skills.
• Review designs and code to ensure solutions are scalable and of high quality.
• Recommend continuous improvements and optimize DevOps processes, emphasizing automation.
• Design and implement complex software solutions for APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and real-time streaming on cloud platforms.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying production-ready systems.
• 5+ years of experience working on Azure or GCP cloud applications/services (Azure preferred).
• 5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
• Experience in modern programming languages such as Java, Python, FastAPI, or Go.
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos DB).
• Experience with messaging systems like Apache Kafka, MQ, etc., and container orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes and Docker.
• 3+ years of experience leading software development projects, including goal setting, progress monitoring, stakeholder communication, and mentoring.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Github, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Octopus.
• Ability to perform unit and integration testing, and participate in code reviews.
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, software engineering principles, algorithms, data structures, and security audits.

Nice to Have

• Experience promoting proper implementation of SAFe process techniques.
• Experience working with distributed teams across multiple time zones and geographies.
• Experience leading large technical programs with end-to-end planning responsibilities.
• Experience working with technology vendors.
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture and security practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
