Job Description

About the Role

A problem isn't truly solved until it's solved for all. That's why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. The Platforms Infrastructure Engineering Project Management Office (PMO) partners with Google Compute Engine (GCE)/Technical Infrastructure (TI) Engineering and Operations teams to deliver systems, hardware, and software critical to enabling Cloud and Google services. The ML System PMO team leads programs from concept to production, designing, building, and delivering industry-leading ML Systems for internal and Cloud customers. The organization focuses on increasing velocity, quality, predictability, and coordination across teams, prioritizing security, efficiency, and reliability in hyperscale computing and AI platforms like Vertex AI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with key engineering leads/stakeholders, contribute to ML System Roadmap by program managing projects, organizing cross-project work within the program, and defining program controls/governance/standards.
  • Lead development and landing of next-gen ML Systems through New Product Introduction (NPI) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) process from Concept to Production and Sustaining.
  • Drive a portfolio of tracks to make direct and measurable impact on customer adoption.
  • Partner with engineering leads and cross-functional teams to ensure that organization-wide Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) are set and reflect top-level strategy as well as ensure projects are effectively prioritized, resourced, and managed.
  • Engage with senior executives and cross-functional leaders to strategize and drive ML Hardware (HW)/System roadmap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with system design, software, tools and operations.
  • Experience in change management.

  • Ability to engage with C-level and executives, with executive-level communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving, discussion, and organizational skills.

Nice to Have

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
