Key Responsibilities

  • Perform autonomy system failure and issue root cause analysis across real-world and simulated testing environments, utilizing expertise in sub-system and system-wide architecture and performance standards.
  • Conduct deep technical analysis, hypothesis formation, thorough investigation of autonomy capabilities and modules, and confirm or revise hypotheses based on additional data.
  • Collaborate with internal and external domain experts to ensure alignment on root cause analysis and severity scoring frameworks.
  • Synthesize data into reports, feedback, and visualizations to create digestible information for various teams.
  • Quickly use and provide feedback on web-based tools required for root cause analysis and supporting analytics work across test modalities.
  • Participate in peer-to-peer quality assurance to stay calibrated within the team and align with Aurora standards.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders and present analytical insights related to autonomy performance.
  • Create, maintain, apply, and own hierarchical tags based on evolving taxonomies to help teams understand failures, trends, and top issues.
  • Keep documentation and training materials up to date to ensure team awareness and preparedness.

Requirements

  • Superb analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to verbalize the 'why' and 'how' of work.
  • Passion for working with teams and collaborating with partners.
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and analyze technical details of system-level failures, including root cause analysis, troubleshooting, escalations, and corrective actions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to bridge operations, safety, product, and technical groups.
  • Experience creating, executing, and optimizing processes, and identifying workflow bottlenecks with potential solutions.
  • Planning and organizational abilities for independent prioritization and follow-through.
  • Comfort in fast-paced, fluid working environments.
  • Desirable: BS or MS in STEM-related fields such as Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Desirable: 1+ year of experience working with autonomous vehicles or robotics industries, including domains like triage, motion planning, perception, mapping, localization, and testing operations.
  • Desirable: Experience in test evaluation, root cause analysis, or quality assurance/control domains.
  • Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of coding, scripting, and querying languages such as JQL, SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, C++, BASH, and experience with simulation software.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with simulation software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in a relevant STEM field.
