About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Marketplace Platform team at Walmart Global Tech, you will play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining advanced frameworks that enhance Walmart's Marketplace capabilities. You will ensure robust application performance, mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product and UX/UI teams, and oversee the management of the Walmart Marketplace Platform API. Key Responsibilities

  • Spend 60% of your time engaging in hands-on coding, performing thorough code reviews, debugging, and optimizing both frontend and backend code to ensure high code quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Utilize your proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, and Webpack to build responsive and dynamic user interfaces, ensuring seamless user experiences and design consistency.
  • Leverage your skills in Java, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes to develop robust and scalable backend services, implementing microservices architecture and ensuring seamless integration with frontend applications.
  • Provide mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, and leading by example.
  • Make strategic architectural decisions, stay updated on emerging technologies, and maintain comprehensive documentation to drive the architectural vision for both front-end and backend systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance user experiences and ensure seamless integration, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prioritize application quality, respond swiftly to feedback, improve performance, and proactively address critical issues, implementing best practices for monitoring and maintaining application health.
  • Lead and contribute to technological advancements and innovation within the team, championing new ideas and driving the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Develop detailed project timelines, manage tasks efficiently, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality projects.
  • Conduct rigorous code reviews, resolve complex technical challenges, and uphold high standards of engineering excellence.
  • Provide strategic technical guidance, lead and manage projects, coordinate with other teams, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Experience with Java for backend services, including extensive experience with Spring Boot.
  • Experience in front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, and Webpack.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, system design, and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools like Kubernetes.
  • Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as caching solutions.
  • At least 5 years of full-stack development experience in complex software systems.
  • Experience working in platform teams or building shared tools and frameworks for other developers.
  • Proven ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Prior experience with cloud-native technologies (GCP/Azure) and DevOps practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
  • Experience in e-commerce or marketplace platforms.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active involvement in internal platform evangelism.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area with 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of creating inclusive digital experiences, implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and supporting an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
