About the Role

Join our innovative and dynamic People Technology engineering team as a Staff Software Engineer. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in designing, developing, and implementing digital solutions that address mission-critical business challenges, supporting Walmart associates. Your projects will make a significant impact, be scalable, and drive Walmart's modernization efforts in the People Technology organization. The Enterprise People Technology team supports the successful deployment and adoption of new People technology across the enterprise, impacting millions of associates globally. Walmart Global Tech is committed to building a robust organization that includes service operations and technology solutions for Finance, People, and the Associate Digital Experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Work with cutting-edge tools in AI, big data, microservices, and cloud platforms like Azure.
  • Continuously level up skills through internal tech communities and cross-team collaborations.
  • Develop scalable code that impacts over 2 million associates and hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.
  • Engage in design thinking, code reviews, technical mentorship, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and software engineers to deliver integrated AI solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 8+ years of relevant industry experience in building highly available systems.
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying scalable AI/ML solutions integrated with LLM in production environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Java or Scala.
  • Expertise in AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Transformers, LangChain, LangGraph.
  • Experience with techniques like prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and fine-tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and deployments, particularly with Azure offerings.
  • Experience with cloud storage, security, and migration.
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS CDK, and MLflow for deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies like ReactJS.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Hadoop.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Nice to Have

  • Relevant certifications in AI/ML, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), or MLOps.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in tech communities.
  • Previous experience in leadership or mentorship roles, guiding junior engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
