About the Role

The Grid Compute Framework team at Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a developer to help evolve their high performance grid compute framework used for large scale analytics computations. The role involves working with local counterparts, particularly in Equity Derivative groups, to understand their needs, propose improvements, and implement solutions. This position offers opportunities to work with analytics systems and grow knowledge in financial analytics and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Face off with counterparts in New York, both on technology and quantitative groups.
  • Collect requirements required by counterparts, propose solutions to resolve their needs.
  • Implement the solutions alongside the global team of developers.
  • Monitor and manage the operation of the system during North American core hours.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience in C++ and Python.
  • Willingness to work with other languages such as C# and Java.
  • Good knowledge of analytics and risk for one or more financial products, preferably in equity derivatives.
  • Interest in developing technical skills by keeping up to date with latest trends in application design and new language features/usage.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Curiosity about how technology can be used to solve real world problems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in working with distributed analytics for the purpose of price and risk calculations.
  • Experience in developing on a large scale distributed computation platform, or developing the platform itself.
  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly-traded corporation.
  • Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.
