The role of Art Director at Jon Michael Design, a Taylor Corporation company, involves owning the visual language of packaging and shaping the brand's presence across campaigns, digital, retail, and IRL experiences. It combines hands-on design with high-level creative direction, suitable for someone who can think strategically and execute flawlessly across brand touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and inspire junior designers and engage the design team to create award-winning work.
Collaborate with the Senior Art Director to direct creative output on client programs from concept to completion.
Provide guidance and feedback to the junior design team during projects to ensure high-quality creative outputs.
Contribute to the production and art direction of photo shoots and creative campaigns with a consistent brand point of view.
Work with external partners such as photographers, stylists, comp houses, and printers as needed.
Stay ahead of trends in design, materials, and consumer experience.
Own the quality of creative deliverables across various projects on a day-to-day basis.
Work closely with the Senior Art Director and Project Manager to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of creative work.
Create packaging designs from concept to completion, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements

BFA or BS in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, or related major.
Proven experience as an inspiring Senior Designer or Art Director with strategic understanding.
Experience preparing mockup packaging for client reviews.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
Ability to render in 2D for presentations; experience with 3D rendering programs is a plus.
In-depth knowledge of packaging design, printing, materials, and structure.
Retouching capabilities.
Strong branding and design skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Demonstrable ability to elevate work beyond the brief and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Nice to Have

Experience with 3D rendering programs.

Qualifications

Educational background with a BFA or BS in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, or related field.

Annual salary range of $85,000 - $95,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
