About the Role

Mining Media International (MMI) seeks an assistant editor. The ideal candidate would possess a degree in journalism (or a related field) with an interest in technical writing. The assistant editor would be expected to research and write stories, and proofread and edit articles and other content. The job requires the ability to travel occasionally, oftentimes to remote rural settings and the need to climb onto heavy equipment or through underground mining operations and processing plants.

Key Responsibilities

Research and write stories related to the earth sciences and natural resources sector.
Proofread and edit articles and other content for accuracy and clarity.
Verify facts and gather relevant information through research.
Adapt writing style based on target audience and purpose of the content.

Requirements

Writing skills and journalism principles and practices.
Technical writing experience (1-2 years).
Research and journalism experience (1-2 years).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Ability to travel occasionally, often to remote rural settings.
Ability to climb onto heavy equipment or through underground mining operations and processing plants.
