Job Description

About the Role

The Associate, Data Products role is based in NYC within Scholastic's Digital Services division, specifically in the Data & Analytics (DNA) group. The position involves contributing to large-scale analytical initiatives, data modeling, and visualization primarily using Power BI. The role reports to the Business Intelligence Manager and requires being in the Soho, NY office three days a week. Scholastic is a global publisher and distributor of children's books, committed to literacy and lifelong learning, with a history spanning over 100 years and a presence in more than 135 countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain semantic data models in Power BI
  • Design and build effective report interfaces
  • Assist with data quality checks and troubleshooting
  • Support stakeholder communications and reporting preparation
  • Explore and apply new Power BI features and techniques

Requirements

  • Familiar with a self-service data visualization tool, preferably Power BI
  • Basic understanding of data modeling concepts - tables, relationships, and basic model design
  • SQL skills for purposes of data extraction, transformation, cleaning and analysis
  • Problem-solving ability, logical reasoning, creative thinking and quantitative aptitude
  • Strong Excel skills in analysis and charting

Nice to Have

  • Redshift/ SQL Server database experience
  • Working with SQL for data wrangling or analysis

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate/Graduate degree in business administration, finance, computer science, math, statistics, engineering or other quantitative discipline
  • 0-1 years of experience working with reporting or data visualization tools, preferably Power BI
  • Exposure to data analysis, visualization, or reporting through coursework, capstone projects, internships, or freelance work
