About the Role

Associate Software Engineer at Maersk, focusing on the design, development, and operational management of the Event Streaming Platform based on Kafka and Microsoft event streaming technologies. The role involves working within Maersk's Technology organization as a Platform Engineer to drive performance, scalability, security, and reliability of the platform, collaborating with product teams, and evangelizing the platform across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, test, maintain and enhance the Event Streaming Platform product in Maersk with 100% automation.
Build and maintain platform components to improve developer productivity and application reliability, ensuring seamless integration between various tools and services.
Drive platform performance, scalability, security, and reliability through continuous deployment, monitoring, logging, alerting and automation throughout the platform's lifecycle.
Operate the platform by defining metrics to quantify its health and establishing remediation steps in case of incidents.
Participate in on-call rotations with platform consumers and lead efforts to prevent incidents and maintain platform SLAs through automation and blameless postmortems.
Work directly with platform consumers and the Product Manager to build new features and contribute to the Product Roadmap.
Document and evangelize the platform across other teams within Maersk.
Assist platform consumers in integrating applications and deploying them quickly and securely into production with agile iterations.

Requirements

More than 2 years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE or Software Engineering roles.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE), including deploying, managing, and scaling workloads, optimizing performance, implementing security best practices, and managing cluster operations.
Proficiency in writing and maintaining efficient, scalable, and maintainable code in Go or Python, with experience in building APIs and self-service platforms.
Fundamentals in distributed systems design and operation, with Kafka preferred.
Expertise in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, FluxCD.
Strong understanding of DevOps principles, observability, and SRE best practices.
Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
A self-starter capable of working effectively in engineering teams, continuously learning new technologies, and adapting to industry trends.
Familiarity with Agile / Scrum practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Engineering degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

Experience operating Apache Kafka in Production at scale.
Experience with any event streaming technologies.
Experience building automation for large-scale data systems.
