About the Role

The Assistant Vice President of Brand Design will support the Head of Brand Design within a global marketing and growth organization. They will be an experienced design leader responsible for delivering cohesive and memorable brand experiences that are human, emotional, and ownable. The role involves implementing and evolving AT&T's global brand design strategy, providing inspirational leadership across a complex and matrixed organization, and leading the execution of the global brand identity system across multiple mediums and channels. The position is based at the company's headquarters in Dallas, TX, requiring a minimum of 5 days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a strategic thought leader for AT&T Design and infuse brand storytelling into all communication tactics and touchpoints.
  • Bring to life the global brand design strategy and vision of award-winning creative work.
  • Build trusted collaborative relationships with a diverse range of partners across different functions and levels.
  • Independently manage multiple large-scale projects under tight timelines and adapt to change when needed.
  • Design, develop, and implement robust brand guidelines that inspire and maintain global consistency.
  • Write thorough and strategic brand design briefs that clearly articulate the deliverables and scope of projects.
  • Manage people, project budgets, and forecast critical work that advances brand and business goals.
  • Inspire, teach, and mentor junior colleagues to learn new skills and methodologies.
  • Guide and manage external agency partners to create breakthrough and award-winning work.
  • Art direct and lead complex photoshoots informed by photo principles.
  • Help develop and deploy internal design training modules for marketers and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop competitive design audits to inform project planning and budgets.
  • Partner with the Consumer Insights Team to assess ways of measuring the ROI of design.
  • Apply design thinking methodologies to business and brand design initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience as a seasoned design leader with the ability to bring fresh and provocative thinking to brand design.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into intuitive design systems and guidelines.
  • Strong presentation skills to senior executives and persuasive communication abilities.
  • High level of drive, enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, and tenacity.
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and adapt to changing landscapes.
  • Experience in leading brand identity systems across multiple mediums and channels.
  • Proficiency in guiding and managing external agency partners.
  • Ability to inspire and mentor junior team members.
