About the Role

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking multiple skill levels of Cloud Software Engineer to join our team in the Ft Meade, MD or San Antonio, TX area in support of a government organization essential to U.S. national security. You will provide cloud software research, development, and engineering services including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis/resolution. Key Responsibilities

  • Support cloud software research, development, and engineering services including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis/resolution.
  • Design, implement, integrate, and test new features and capabilities for cloud native service offerings.
  • Conduct containerization and container deployment training sessions, including hands-on software configuration and programming exercises.
  • Develop API-based interfaces to support search and presentation of operational data.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
  • Design and code new software and modify existing software to add new features.
  • Integrate existing software into new systems, modified systems, and operating environments.
  • Develop simple data queries for existing databases, proposed databases, and data repositories.
  • Write and review software and system documentation.
  • Design and implement complex database and data repository interfaces/queries.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, and improve performance.
  • Apply cloud technologies, techniques, and tools such as containerization, container orchestration, data pipelines, provisioning automation, monitoring, application management, and serverless technologies.
  • Apply configuration management concepts and software development best practices.
  • Design, implement, and test new features for cloud native services.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph is required.
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience for Skill Level 1.
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience for Skill Level 2.
  • Experience with implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed File Systems, MapReduce analytics, and Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science) and four years of relevant cloud domain experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and architectures supporting complex analytics.
  • Experience with containerization, container orchestration, data pipelines, automation, and serverless technologies.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline may reduce experience requirements.
  • Certifications such as Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer, CompTIA Cloud Plus (Cloud+), or AWS Microsoft Azure.
  • Active Full Scope Polygraph (desired).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science) from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of relevant cloud domain experience for Skill Level 1.
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience for Skill Level 2.
  • Certifications such as Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer, CompTIA Cloud Plus, or AWS Microsoft Azure (optional but preferred).
