About the Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer to join their Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT) Organization as part of a Cloud Solutions Architecture and Frameworks Implementation team. The role involves envisioning, documenting, and championing target state and transitional architectures to enable creation and migration to a target platform and operating model. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing scalable, reusable, efficient, and resilient solutions, with strong communication skills to articulate solutions with technical and business partners. The role supports technology initiatives, drives the build and rollout of applications, tools, platforms, and services within cloud environments, and encourages innovation and modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, infrastructure, landing zone, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommend innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
  • 7+ years of defining infrastructure solutions
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud-based architecture both on-premises and in public cloud environments
  • 5+ years of experience in Azure, including building out subscriptions and defining and implementing deployment processes
  • 5+ years of experience with OpenShift private cloud
  • Strong understanding of Service-Oriented and microservices architectures

Nice to Have

  • 4-year BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience in provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running in the cloud
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport across disciplines
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and high standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Recent experience in a collaborative Agile environment (Scrum preferred)
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies (GCP, Azure) and familiarity with data center exit strategies
  • Knowledge of Big Data technologies (Data Lake, cloud-based infrastructure), architectures supporting real-time analytics, and flexible data models for unstructured data
