With 64 television stations in 51 U.S. markets, TEGNA reaches more than 100 million people monthly across the web, mobile apps, streaming, and linear television. Together, we are building a sustainable future for local news. We are seeking an experienced CMS Developer to join our growing digital technology team. In this role, you will build and enhance our custom content management system (CMS) that powers our digital platforms across web, mobile, and OTT applications. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver a seamless, scalable, and user-friendly experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain features for our custom CMS built on the .NET MVC framework.
  • Design and implement responsive, intuitive user interfaces using JavaScript frameworks and libraries, such as React, and Webpack for bundling.
  • Develop backend services and APIs using .NET (C#), integrating seamlessly with frontend components.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, UI/UX designers, and backend developers to ensure feature parity, user-friendly interfaces, and robust functionality.
  • Optimize CMS performance and scalability through efficient code, caching strategies, and streamlined database interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, including role-based access controls, authentication, and authorization integrations.
  • Engage actively in code reviews, testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end), and deployment practices to maintain high-quality standards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience developing web applications using .NET MVC (C#), JavaScript, and related technologies.
  • Strong proficiency with JavaScript frameworks and libraries (React preferred) and module bundlers (Webpack).
  • Experience integrating identity and access management systems such as Okta for authentication and role-based authorization.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive mindset and a willingness to continuously learn, as you'll contribute to modernizing our systems and adopting emerging technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Prior experience developing CMS solutions.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.

Qualifications

  • Not explicitly specified beyond experience requirements; implied: relevant work experience and technical proficiency.

Benefits & Perks

  • Comprehensive benefits including medical plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, dental and eye care coverage, fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance, disability and life insurance.
  • 401(k) program with company match and immediate vesting.
  • Nine free virtual doctor's appointments through Teladoc and 12 free annual therapy sessions via Spring Health.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and nine paid holidays per year.
