About the Role

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is one of the nation's leading children's hospitals, committed to making kids better today and healthier tomorrow. The Community Development Officer creates recognition and acceptance for the organization as the premier pediatric healthcare provider in a specific area by developing relationships with community entities, government, donors, and families to promote services and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Functions as the primary contact for community entities within an assigned geographic area.
  • Interfaces with community leaders and staff to increase consumer awareness and understanding of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta programs and services.
  • Interfaces with legislative affairs, local chamber of commerce, and state legislators.
  • Participates in targeted community-sponsored events (e.g., parades, health fairs, day care centers, schools, summer camps, churches) to increase consumer awareness, utilizing appropriate media.
  • Identifies potential key donors and works with Foundation partners to develop new and existing fundraising opportunities and increase philanthropic focus.
  • Supports key leaders in Clinical Operations, Marketing and Communications, and the Foundation to identify resources and assist in planning and implementing programs.
  • Joins, applies for membership, or attends civic meetings to cultivate ongoing community relationships.

Requirements

  • Database management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or Healthcare Administration, Public Policy, or related healthcare field.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Must have personal transportation (automobile in good working condition) and auto insurance.
  • Able to lead projects from inception to completion with minimal management supervision.
  • Ability to assist other team members in learning project management skills.

Nice to Have

  • 5 years of experience in community development, fundraising, marketing, or marketing communications.
  • Experience in healthcare or non-profit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or Healthcare Administration, Public Policy, or related healthcare field.
