Job Description

About the Role

The Core Java Developer role at BCforward involves developing and maintaining Java-based applications, working with cloud services, and collaborating with large teams to achieve organizational goals. The position is based in Chicago, IL, on-site, with a contract duration of 6 months to hire, supporting the company's mission to deliver innovative technology solutions and support digital transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot framework.
Work with RDBMS such as SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle, ensuring efficient database interactions.
Implement automation testing frameworks like Cucumber.
Deploy, troubleshoot, and support cloud-based applications on AWS.
Utilize messaging systems such as Kafka for data streaming.
Participate in technical discussions with architects and senior leadership.
Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system stability.
Collaborate with large, cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

Requirements

Strong Java development experience of 5-6 years.
Experience with Spring Boot framework.
RDBMS experience of 2+ years with SQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
Knowledge of automation testing frameworks like Cucumber.
Experience with AWS cloud services, deployment, and troubleshooting.
Experience with Kafka messaging systems.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering.
Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture.
Understanding of system design and industry technology trends.
Proficiency with development tools such as Ant, Maven, Git, Jenkins.
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, multi-threading, and J2EE design patterns.
Hands-on experience building cloud-based microservices architectures.
Experience with unit testing tools like JUnit.
Strong communication skills for interaction with senior leadership and teams.

Nice to Have

Experience with Grafana and Dynatrace dashboards and alerts.
Experience troubleshooting production issues in cloud environments.
Familiarity with modern programming languages beyond Java.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
