About the Role

The St. Olaf Athletic Department is in search of a talented and dedicated creative and digital media strategist to work in Athletic Communications. This full-time position will work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications to promote the stories and accomplishments of St. Olaf's 24 NCAA Division III varsity sport programs, primarily through photography, videography, graphic design, and social media. The role involves night and weekend hours, in-office work, supervising student workers, and travel for event coverage, especially postseason events in the Twin Cities metro area and nationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the department's primary photographer and manage all photography needs for social media and the athletics website.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student photographers to assist with departmental needs.
  • Serve as the department's primary videographer, producing, shooting, and editing video content across various platforms.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student videographers to assist with departmental needs.
  • Serve as the department's primary graphic designer, creating materials such as pre/post-game graphics, awards graphics, and recruiting graphics following brand guidelines.
  • Create designs for athletic apparel as needed.
  • Lead the department's social media efforts and collaborate with the Marketing and Communications office.
  • Manage athletics social media accounts and assist with team account management.
  • Shape the creative and digital strategies through content calendar creation, track social media analytics, and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Experience in college athletics as a student-athlete, student-coach, student employee in Athletics and/or Athletic Communications, or experience in content creation (photography, videography, graphic design, social media) in a relevant field.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, etc.) and SIDEARM web platform.
  • Experience with social media analytics tools.
  • Successful completion of a background check, which may include criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, certifications, motor vehicle check, DOT certification, credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, etc.).
  • Experience with SIDEARM web platform.
  • Experience with social media analytics tools.
