Data Center Site Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Gain a complete understanding of facility layout, operation of MEP systems, and illustrate site-specific system one-lines with good accuracy.
• Understand equipment nomenclature standards, equipment locations, facility drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Learn equipment sequence of operations (SOO's), standard operating procedures (SOP's), and emergency operating procedures (EOP's).
• Manage customer SLA's and lease obligations critical to data center operations.
• Identify and understand the facility's top 20 EOP's.
• Understand BMS alarm functionality, alarm escalation/acknowledgement, and data/trend extraction.
• Participate in DLR event management, escalation, and incident reporting procedures.
• Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, edit, implement, and close work orders.
• Create, edit, resolve, and close incident reports following site incidents.
• Support maintenance and operations standards, including Digital Realty's Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
• Support supervision of construction activities and installations as required.
• Execute site-specific change management processes, including creating Method of Procedures (MOPs) and overseeing maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot site mechanical and electrical systems effectively.
• Respond to unplanned events without immediate supervision.
• Complete rounds/inspections to detect anomalies.
• Develop or improve SOPs for site-specific equipment.
• Gain understanding of local customer business and data center operations.
• Support various accreditation initiatives such as SSAE16, SOC2, ISO 27001.
• Complete DLR Critical Awareness Training.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of Data Centers, HVAC, mechanical, or electrical theories (for Site Engineer I).
• Experience in Data Centers or critical facilities (for Site Engineer II and III).
• Ability to understand facility layout, equipment, and operational procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to respond to unplanned events independently.
• Ability to complete inspections and detect anomalies.
• Good understanding of site operations and customer SLA requirements.
• Familiarity with event management, incident reporting, and CMMS systems.
• Ability to create and follow SOPs and MOPs.
• Willingness to learn and support safety and environmental standards.

Nice to Have

• Experience with BMS alarm systems and data trend analysis.
• Experience supporting accreditation initiatives like SSAE16, SOC2, ISO 27001.
• Knowledge of facility drawings, equipment specifications, and operational procedures.
