The role of Data Quality Engineer involves enhancing data quality and validation frameworks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across all systems, contributing to the company's data governance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Analyzing data to identify inconsistencies, errors, and anomalies, and creating and implementing validation rules to ensure data quality
Designing and implementing processes for data cleansing, standardization, and transformation to improve data quality
Tracking data flows and identifying potential issues in real-time to ensure data accuracy and reliability
Working with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data quality standards are met
Investigating the causes of data quality issues and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence
Contributing to the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures
Creating and maintaining documentation for data quality processes, rules, and standards
Creating explorable visuals that clearly communicate the Trust Score for datasets
Performing other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
3-5+ years of experience with Python/PySpark, SQL, ETL/ELT, Relational Database, Data Validation, and Cloud Data Platforms
Strong analytical skills to analyze complex datasets, identify patterns, and pinpoint areas for improvement
Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data in relational databases
Understanding of data modeling techniques and ETL/ELT processes
Familiarity with data quality tools and technologies such as Great Expectations
Programming skills in Python, PySpark, and SQL
Effective communication skills to convey data quality insights to technical and non-technical audiences
Problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues
Attention to detail in examining data for errors and inconsistencies
Knowledge of AWS environment including Glue, S3, Lake Formation
Knowledge of Databricks
Exposure to SAP / BW / HANA environment
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice to Have

Experience with data governance policies and procedures
Experience working in the automotive or mobility industry
Additional certifications in data management or related fields
