About the Role

The opportunity is for a Data Scientist to use analytical skills to improve Air Force mission solutions by turning complex data sets into useful information. The role involves working closely with customers to understand their questions and needs, developing data collection tools, visualizations, algorithms, and predictive analytics leveraging machine learning or other approaches. The position emphasizes using data science for aerospace mission solutions and making informed decisions to address global challenges in both private and public sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with customers to understand their questions and needs related to data.
Develop data collection tools, data visualizations, dashboards, algorithms, and scripts to process data.
Conduct predictive analytics leveraging machine learning or other approaches.
Use appropriate tools and frameworks to transform disparate data points into objective answers.
Provide customers with a deep understanding of their data, its meaning, and how to utilize it.
Use data science techniques to solve problems and support decision-making for Air Force leaders.

Requirements

2+ years of experience with scripting and scientific languages, including Python, R, Julia, C++, or Java, focusing on machine learning and data science applications.
2+ years of experience with data collection, processing, visualization, analytics, and science approaches, including AWS, Azure, Databricks, or Apache.
2+ years of experience with tools to manage data and databases, including Microsoft Excel, Access, SharePoint, MongoDB, Amazon Redshift, or Azure SQL Databases.
Knowledge of statistical measures, including confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, mathematical modeling techniques, optimization approaches, or machine learning algorithm development.
Secret security clearance.
Bachelor's degree.

Nice to Have

2+ years of experience applying machine learning techniques and key parameters affecting their performance.
2+ years of experience with Big Data programming technologies, including Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Apache Spark, or Apache Flink.
2+ years of experience working with a wide range of predictive and decision models and tools for developing models.
Experience in natural language processing topics, including tagging, syntactic parsing, word sense disambiguation, topic modeling, contextual text mining, and deep learning applications to NLP.
Experience developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes using strong baselines and determining cause and effect relationships accurately.
TS / SCI security clearance.
Master's degree.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred).
Secret security clearance (TS / SCI clearance preferred).

Salary range from $77,500 to $176,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
